A U-Pick lavender day

Our lavender fields are looking lavishly lush…ready to burst forth with what may be the best year ever for U-Pick lavender at New Oak Ranch.  We will be welcoming visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 4:00 beginning June 21st and running through July 27th.  (Based on previous experience, we now know that the beautiful purple haze fades in the Ojai heat, making August a far less desirable time for a visit.)

So plan your visit to Ojai and come see us.  Wear comfortable shoes, pack a picnic lunch and bring your camera (photo ops abound…a gorgeous green valley, rows and rows of lavender and if your timing is right, there might be horses in the pasture and/or a lavender distillation in process). We’ll supply clippers and a twist tie so that for just $5.00, you can gather a big bundle of fragrant, colorful lavender.  We’ll guide you to varieties that are aromatic, colorful, great for drying or sweet and mild for use in your favorite recipe.

Throughout the weekends, the full range of New Oak Ranch lavender products will be available for you to sample and to purchase.  And new this year, is Karen Evenden’s recently released cookbook and travel memoir, A Taste of Croatia. Packed with straight forward, healthy recipes this book will inspire you to eat locally and sustainably and maybe even plan a trip to Croatia.
